Sync Navigation

Overview

Sync Navigation is a feature exclusively available in Compare View, ensuring that any navigation adjustments—such as zooming, panning, or switching pages—are instantly applied to the corresponding version. This allows for a seamless comparison, making it easier to identify differences and assess changes with precision. Users can interact with annotations, comments, and markup tools in both versions while maintaining alignment between them.

Sync Navigation Compatibility

The below table highlights the compatibility of synchronisation of navigation when comparing two file formats.

Understanding Sync Navigation

The synchronisation icon is located in the proofing header toolbar when in Compare View. It is enabled by default but can be disabled by clicking the icon.

The below table outlines the behaviour of synchronised navigation across each:

File Type

Synce Enabled

Sync Disabled

Images

When enabled, you will experience the following behaviour:

  • Pan or Scrolling in one view automatically scrolls the other view to the corresponding position

  • Zooming is applied equally to both views, maintaining consistency in scaling

  • Rotation is applied in the selected direction to both views

When disabled, you will be able to navigate each version independently.

PDF

When enabled, you will experience the following behaviour:

  • Pan or Scrolling in one view automatically scrolls the other view to the corresponding position.

  • Zooming is applied equally to both views, maintaining consistency in scaling.

  • Rotation is applied in the selected direction to both views

When disabled, you will be able to navigate each version independently.

Video

When enabled, you will experience the following behaviour:

  • Playback controls including playback speed, loop video and playback controls will be maintained across both files. Volume can still be managed independently across both video files

  • Selected Aspect Ration Guide will be visible on both video previews

  • The same time format will be applied to both video playback

When disabled, you will be able to playback the video of each version independently

Note:

In Sync Mode is on, document zoom, metadata, and page navigation operate under the following rules:

  • When both files are PDF/Office documents

    • Zoom Alignment: Fit To Page is applied exclusively to the right pane. The left pane automatically adjusts its zoom level to match the exact scale of the right pane.

    • Toolbar Metadata: Page count and position data (currentPage / totalPages) displayed in the Sync Mode Toolbar reflect the right side only.

  • Scroll & Page Navigation:

    • The left pane dynamically syncs its scroll position to follow the right pane.

    • If the left document has fewer pages than the page currently displayed on the right, the left viewer automatically stops at its last available page while the right viewer continues to display its current page.
