Overview


Every Encodify configuration has crucial tasks that need to run in the background to ensure any number of jobs get done to keep the application running smoothly and to allow users to continue to enjoy an engaging experience, without it grinding to a halt every time it needs to do something extra. Background jobs queue provides greater visibility over the progress and completion of these processes with the possibility to navigate to the result of the job execution.

Understanding the Background Jobs Panel


Currently, we will automatically generate a background job message to the initiated user for the following:

A system-generated background job will be automatically generated when given Import template specifies a User to Notify. This is supported for any direct imports, scheduler jobs or scheduler actions.

  1. Switch between displaying User Generated or System Generated background job Notifications.

  1. The following filters can be applied:

    • All (default)

    • Created

    • In Progress

    • Failed

    • Completed

    • Expired

    • Stopped

  1. Navigate between the previous and next 15 background job

  1. A background job message can only be deleted with the status: Completed, Failed, Expired or Stopped. Clicking the Delete Job button prompts the user for confirmation before removing it from the panel. System Generated background jobs can only be deleted by System / Site Administrator users.

Note: A stopped background job cannot be restarted.

  1. Certain background jobs can be stopped using the Stop Process button within the background job message. This option is available for the following job types while they are running: Module Export, Report Export, Run Converters, Generate Missing Previews, and Clean Media Holders. Clicking Stop Process prompts the user to confirm before cancelling the ongoing job.

Note: A stopped background job cannot be restarted.

  1. Certain background jobs will display a Download button within the background jobs message. This option is available for the following job types once processing is completed: Bulk Download, Merge PDF, Video Editing, Module Export, and Report Export.

  1. Downloaded files are retained for 24 hours before being deleted. After this period, the corresponding background job entry will be updated with the status Expired.

  1. Certain background jobs include an Open Module button within the background job message. This option is available for Item Imports and Bulk Item Change, and navigates the user to a filtered search result based on the BatchID. For Creative Automation Studio, the message will instead offer options to Open Item or Open Creative Automation Studio, directing the user either to the specific item or to the relevant wizard step.
