Breaking Changes


  • A newly created sites will now automatically default to New UI instead of Classic UI. As such we have removed system property enable.new.ui and the property  portalPages should contain the value Dashboard. Exiting sites and users will remain unchanged.

  • With the introduction of Validation and Formatting Automation Rules we will be decommissioning Site Configuration → Module → Rules. Please note the following:

    • Previously configured validation rules will be automatically migrated, however, you should validate they are configured correctly.  

    • Previously configured formatting rules will be migrated with previously configured conditions, however, you will need to reconfigure the desired action. All previously configured formatting rules will stop working until they are reconfigured

  • We have decommissioned the following two endpoints from our external API:

    • /rest/external/site/{siteID}/module/{moduleID}/item/retrieveAll

    • /rest/external/site/{siteId}/module/{moduleId}/item/{itemId}/withFileContent

  • Improvement to Marketing Planning - We’re happy to announce that we have started the journey of creating and visualising the plan in Encode. With this release we’ve added more visuals to the calendar view, and we’re curious to get your feedback. Please contact us to see how we can help you improve your planning process, and get a better overview of your marketing plans. 

  • Filter your Marketing Plan - It’s also now possible to apply filtering to your marketing activity plan. Imagine the benefit of being able to show and tell a supplier which campaigns they’ve been a part of, simply by applying a filter to the calendar. When planning for the year you’ll get an efficient and detail view of your planned activities, and where you could invite a supplier etc.

  • Kanban Boards - We are pleased to announce the introduction Kanban Boards - an addition to our module views allowing customers to visualise the work that needs to get done, provide an excellent overview of the current work situation and an interactive method to transition through your business workflow. Additional support for displaying items by user providing an initial overview of work assignment allowing allowing to quickly identify bottlenecks. Read more about this functionality in our guides

  • Support for more file formats - We have extend our list of supported file types to now include WebP - a modern image format that provides superior lossless and lossy compression for images on the web allowing for the creation of smaller, richer images for the web. WebP images are 26% smaller in size compared to PNGs and 25-34% smaller than comparable JPEG images. Read more about this functionality in our guides

  • AdBuilder - Font Colour - Following the release of Creative Automation Studio for print media we were concerned by the time required to manage AdBuilder templates - while simplifying the process for creating outputs had we actually made the process more difficult for creatives and increased their workload. Font colours are an initial step into simplifying this process by automatically defining which colour to be used on the template and then referencing the CMYK variables. These input parameters are available for customers who are using AdBuilder with or without Creative Automation Studio.

  • AdBuilder - Text Formatting - When creating print signage there can often me specific terminology within legal text that requires for formatting (Bold, Underline and Italics). This formatting can often be unpredictable and therefore cannot be applied automatically to the template. We have now allowed for these specific terms to be added as input parameters and the applied formatting will be respected for customers using AdBuilder with or without Creative Automation Studio

  • View Item Metadata in Proofing - The Metadata tab displayed within Encode Proofing is designs to give a clear and centralised view of item metadata to help provide context and additional details during review and approval.

  • Improvement to visible page status - Following customer feedback we are pleased to introduce a number of improvements to page status to ensure the status assigned to a page remains visible even when the thumbnail panel is collapsed.

  • Improvement to Form and Guidance Text - We have improved the usability of our module search results and form to make it easier to identify field dependencies and view field guidance text in addition to ensuring that mandatory fields are less intrusive.

  • Allow one Automation Rule to define many actions - We have extended support of Automation Rules of type Selection to allow for specifying many 'Actions' allowing you to update an item within more than one field reducing the quantity of rules required. Read more about Automation Rules here

  • Copy an Automation Rule - We have added the Copy function to allow customers to easily create a new rule when the 'Conditions' and 'Actions' are similar. 

  • Migrate Validation Rules to Automation Rules -  Citizen Developers will now be able to manage validation rules allowing you to apply custom logic to verify that the data a user enters in an items meets the standards you specify before the user can save the record.

  • Migrate Formatting Rules to Automation Rules - Citizen Developers will also be able to manage formatting rules allowing you to apply custom CSS formatting to fields depending on value. Formatting of type 'Full Cell' will be supported for all field types, however, formatting of type 'Chip' will only be supported for status, single option and multi option select box.

  • Hours App Improvements - We have improved the visual appearance of the Hours App by ensuring that it respects the the site configured theme.

Bug Fixes


  • Fixed issue whereby users were prevented from being able to download previous versions of zip files

  • Fixed issue preventing some customers upgrading to version 10.1.0 whereby system fails to validate email uniqueness for inactive users during upgrade script

  • Fixed issue whereby user information was missing in workflow log
