Organising in Custom Groups

Prev Next

Overview

In Encodify, Workspaces and Modules can each be organised into groups within their respective sections of the side navigation. This allows users to better structure and manage their navigation experience based on how they work. Note that Workspace groups and Module groups are separate and they cannot be combined or grouped together.

To support better organisation, Workspaces and Modules can be categorised as follows:

  • Set as Home – allows users to set a personalised landing page. Either a Workspace or a Module can be designated as the Home view, becoming the default page shown after login. If no Home is selected, users will be directed to the last accessed Workspace by default.

  • Favourite – enables quick access to frequently used Workspaces or Modules, keeping them easily accessible at the top of the list.

  • Custom Groups – user-defined categories that let you organise Workspaces or Modules by purpose, project, team, or any context relevant to your workflow.

  • Archived – A hidden group used to store Workspaces or Modules that are no longer in active use, helping declutter your navigation without permanent deletion.

How to customise Workspaces and Modules order?

In addition to categorising Workspaces and Modules, you can also adjust how they are displayed in the corresponsing section of the sidebar.

Groups

  • You can create custom groups and reorder these groups to suit your preferences.

  • Custom groups can be dragged into any position between Favourite (always fixed at the top) and Archived(always fixed at the bottom).

Drag-and-Drop Sorting

  • Workspaces and Modules within Favourite group and within your custom groups can be reordered by dragging and dropping them.

  • Workspaces and Modules can also be reassigned to another group simply by dragging them to the target group.

  • A drop indicator will appear to show exactly where the workspace or module will be placed.

Alphabetical Groups

  • Workspaces and Modules in the Uncategorised and Archived groups are always sorted alphabetically (A → Z).

  • Drag-and-drop reordering is not available in these groups.

  • To make this clear, these groups are highlighted with a light-blue border (the same colour used for the drop indicator).

By combining groups, favourites, archiving, and custom ordering, you can build a sidebar that reflects the way you and your team prefer to work, while still maintaining system-level consistency for uncategorised and archived content.
