Default files feature in Module gives the possibility to create Module items with default file uploaded automatically. The purpose of the default file specified in Module appearance is used to create items with the file already uploaded. The user can create many items at a time, and then replace the default files with the actual files via external file structure.
To configure the default files functionality, perform the following steps:
Go to Site Configuration > Module > Appearance. Click Edit Appearance.
Select the Upload Generic File to Empty Items check box. Two fields for file upload and entering file name will appear.
Click Choose File in the Generic File field, and select the file that will be automatically uploaded for the newly-created item.
In the Generic File Name select box, select the field whose value will be taken as a name for the generic file.
Save the Settings.
Configuration of default file in Module appearance
Now, every time you create an item, the item will be created with the default file already uploaded.
To replace the generic file with the actual files, perform the following.
Go to Site Configuration > Module > External File Structure. Configure the external file structure. Configuration of the External file structure is explained in more details in the External File Structure chapter of the manual.
Go to the external folder and replace the default files with the actual files.
Run the Synchronizer job. The default files will be replaced with the corresponding files in External File structure.
Note also that you can delete or overwrite the default file by simply editing the file.
Please, keep in mind that if you upload new file to the item created by synchronizer job, the original file in the external folder will be replaced.
