The Video Converter configuration settings involve three aspects of the video media. The moving pictures are configured first (video settings), then the audio, or sound, is configured, and finally the preview pictures that can be produced for video media files are configured.
Option | Default | Meaning |
---|---|---|
Video Codec | Default codec | This determines which of the available codecs will be used for conversion. |
Max Size W x H | None | Maximum size of the image. Width and Height are given in pixels. |
Aspect | As Original | Manipulates the dimensions of the picture. This sets the Width to Height ratio. |
Framerate | As Original | This determines how many frames (still pictures) are displayed per second to produce the picture in motion. |
Bitrate | As Original | This determines the amount of Kilobits per second used to produce the picture in motion. The higher the rate the greater the quality. |
Sampling | As Original | This determines the rate (given in KHz) at which samples from the original media file are made to produce the new one. |
Bit Rate | 16 Bit | Determines how many bits are used in each sample. The more bits used the less chance of distortion. |
Channels | Stereo | Determines if the audio is converted into stereo or mono. |
Single Frame Preview | 2 | This determines single preview for specific frame taken at specified second of converted video. |
# of seconds between previews | 2 | This determines the number of still pictures made when a video is converted. These are made available in the Previews menu. |
Max Size W x H | 200×160 | Maximum size of a preview. Width and Height are given in pixels. |
Keep Aspect | Enabled | When enabled, this ensures that the relative dimensions of the preview images are not altered and therefore not vertically or horizontally stretched or compressed. |
No actual conversion is generally involved with this type of converter, which basically handles the process of copying a file to a different Media Holder. The only exception is when a zipped file is copied and the system is set up to handle it.
Convertible video files
Below you can find the lists of video file extensions that can be converted in our system. As well as in previous chapter the first list represents the list of video file input formats that are supported in our system, the second list lists video output formats to which video files can be converted.
List of video input formats supported in our system:
.avi | .mov | .wmv | .f4v | .webm |
.mp4 | .flv | .mpg | .ogv | mxf |
List of video output formats supported in our system:
.avi | .mov | .wmv | .f4v | .webm |
.mp4 | .flv | .mpg | .ogv | mxf |
SWF files cannot be converted in Encodify system, they can only be displayed in Classic UI. For SWF files display, the SWF converter is used which has only one input and output format – SWF.
The .avi, .mov, .wmv, .mpg, flv and .mp4 input formats can be converted to .avi, .mov, .wmv, .mpg, .flv, and .jpg output formats.
HTML files can be previewed using HTML converter which has input format HTML and outputs to .jpg or .png.
