# Understanding Bulk Delete / Inactivate

## Overview

---

**Bulk Delete / Inactivate** allows users to remove or temporarily inactivate multiple items in Encodify at once. This is useful for managing outdated, duplicate or irrelevant records without handling each item individually. By streamlining the process, Bulk Delete / Inactivate saves time, reduces manual effort, and helps maintain a clean and organised module.

Whether an item is **deleted** or simply **inactivated** is controlled by a setting in the [Module Settings](/v1/docs/module-settings#Features).

### Where to find Bulk Delete / Inactivate

**Bulk Operations** allow you to perform actions on multiple items simultaneously, directly from a [workspace](/v1/docs/workspaces) or [module view](/v1/docs/module-views). To get started, select the items you want to work with. Once selected, the **Bulk Operations toolbar** will appear at the top of the screen.

If the module is configured to inactivate items before removal, each item must first be **inactivated** using the ![](https://cdn.document360.io/3a63e0a8-1221-4570-aaa1-d43f9b95a612/Images/Documentation/Screenshot 2025-09-14 at 13.03.21.png) **Inactivate** button.
