# Overview

The reporting tool in Encodify is a handy functionality that allows for extracting data from the different modules in the system. It is possible to specify the filtering criteria for data extraction, create and upload pre-formatted templates with calculation formulas and resulting sheets, and download the report in different formats, namely `.xls`, `.xlsx or .csv`. Generated reports can be either opened in Excel or saved to a directory on your computer.

With the **Reporting** functionality in the system, you can:

- Create a reporting module to create, set up, edit and delete reports
- Select modules and fields from which data for the report will be extracted
- Configure filters for fields to extract the needed data for the reports
- Include log information (download log, change log, workflow log, workflow comments, general comments, timetable log)
- Download the generated report in .xls, .xlsx and .csv formats
- Upload formatted templates and then download the reports with the updated data

Please note that generating .csv reports behaves a bit differently from .xls and xlsx. There are two points of difference:

- Only one module and no logs should be selected for exporting data to .csv reports.
- Templates are ignored during the .csv output if any are uploaded.
